2017 CD3 Municipal and School Board Elections

2017 Local Elections

There are local elections at the municipal elections in Bloomington, Hopkins, Independence and Minnetonka this year.

In addition, there are school board elections in Independent School Districts 270, 271, 272, 275, 276, 277, 278, 280 and 284 this year.

Early voting is underway now through the Monday before the November 7 Election Day. Check with the municipalities and school districts above for the locations and times.

While these elections are with unendorsed candidates, we feel these individuals’ positions on issues most closely match that of the DFL.

Bloomington School District

ISD 271

There is a referendum on the ballot to replace the last referendum that expires this year. Vote yes.

School Board candidates with positions most closely matching that of the DFL are:

  • Michael Poke
  • Paige Rohman
  • Dawn Steigauf
  • Dan Stirratt
  • Jane Stoa and
  • Marcia Sytsma
Bloomington City Council There are several seats up for election this year.  Based on their positions, we believe these candidates most closely match that of the DFL:

  • At Large — Mike Arulfo
  • At Large — Nathan Coulter
  • Second Council District — Shawn Nelson
  • Fourth Council District — Patrick Martin
Eden Prairie School District

School Board candidates with positions most closely matching that of the DFL are:

  • Terri Swartout
  • Barbara West
