“We knew tonight’s debate wasn’t going to be about the issues.
“It was less than two weeks ago that our Democratic candidates were discussing the economy and providing voters with substantive plans to build a brighter future for all Americans.
“Tonight, after a total of 10 hours of Republican debates, we got exactly what we thought we would, more regurgitated talking points about failed policies that would drag America back to the 1950s.
“This debate comes at a time when Republicans — both in Congress and the race to become president – would rather play politics with our economy and put the wants of the wealthiest Americans ahead of the needs of middle class families.
“Hardworking Americans and their families deserve a president who will work to rebuild our crumbling roads and bridges, invest in children’s futures, and continue moving the country forward. Tonight’s debate was an unfortunate reminder that not one of the myriad of Republicans candidates will put the middle class first.”
