Rep. Patty Acomb (HD44B) Update: November 24, 2020

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this email finds you well and staying healthy. Here’s an update from the Capitol:

Support for Businesses, Workers, and Families

We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for our small businesses and the Minnesotans whose livelihoods depend on them, and we’re committed to supporting them as they do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19. This morning, Governor Walz announced a COVID-19 economic relief package to keep businesses afloat, support workers, and help families keep food on the table. I look forward to working with the Walz Administration and colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver this much-needed relief.

While state and local governments are doing what they can to help businesses and families make ends meet, it’s clear federal assistance is needed. Last week, my House DFL colleagues and I sent a letter urging President Trump and Senate Majority Leader McConnell to approve a new COVID-19 relief bill. I hope our federal leaders will take action, but in the meantime, Hennepin County is offering additional assistance for businesses impacted by COVID-19. Bars, restaurants, gyms, and event/entertainment venues can apply for Small Business Relief grants here. Applications will close on Tuesday, December 1 at noon.

COVIDaware MN

Yesterday, Governor Walz unveiled a new tool to help keep Minnesotans informed as cases surge across the state. COVIDaware MN is a mobile app that can alert people if someone they’ve been in close contact with – even someone they don’t know – contracts the virus. The app is free, voluntary, and anonymous. You can download it and learn more here.

Pledge to Defeat COVID-19

While the holiday will likely look different this year, I hope you have an enjoyable and safe Thanksgiving. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or feedback and let me know if I can be of assistance. You can contact me at rep.patty.acomb@house.mn or 651-296-9934.

Sincerely,

Patty Acomb
