Something’s Going On

The following article was posted on the TrumpAccoutable.org website February 22, 2017:

Donald Trump has been asked numerous times over the past week what the causes of anti-Semitism and discrimination are as well as what his administration plans to do to address these challenging issues. In each case he has either dismissed the question (or the questioner) or retreated to vague statements about the importance of unity and bridging the issues that divide Americans.

He has not, however, answered the question and has not proposed  a solution.

At the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Tuesday, Trump might have gotten a little closer. When asked by MSNBC’s Craig Melvin about the issues that divide the American people and what he plans to do about it, President Trump indicated that he thinks there’s “something going on” that makes it difficult for Americans to come together. While it seems like an insignificant or even glib statement, it indicates that he is beginning to look at the causes of racism and anti-Semitism in the U.S. It’s a step in the right direction.

Candidate Trump specifically asked the American people to place their trust in him confidently asserting that he could solve the problems America faces. “I alone can fix it” stands in stark contrast to “together we can solve our problems” and on November 8, 2016 the candidate who claimed he could solve our problems by himself won the presidency.

It’s time to see a plan or a strategy. Let’s hear what the “something” is that’s going on. Share with us how you plan to fix it. We’re eagerly waiting for less racism, less division, less anti-Semitism, and more harmony.
