Jake Tapper Exposes Pompeo, Graham and Giuliani’s ‘Stunning’ Hypocrisy

The CNN anchor said that anyone who remembers Benghazi “may find it stunning” to see Republican members of Congress “trash-talking the oversight responsibilities of the House.”

It’s easy to forget just how different some of President Trump’s most loyal servants felt about oversight and impeachment when there were Democrats in the White House. On Sunday morning, CNN anchor Jake Tapper made sure his viewers remembered.

In the final moments of his State of the Union broadcast this week, Tapper said that the White House’s outright refusal to “participate” in the House impeachment inquiry means that the president is “seemingly thumbing his nose at the very notion that the U.S. government was designed with three co-equal branches, specifically to offer checks and balances on each other.”

“When President Obama was in the White House, the Republican-led House of Representatives conducted lots of oversight,” Tapper continued, “on the Fast and Furious scandal, on the Benghazi tragedy and more.” He said that anyone who covered or followed the Benghazi saga “may find it stunning to see Republican members of Congress trash-talking whistleblowers and inspectors general and trash-talking the oversight responsibilities of the House.”

Remember Benghazi? The Hypocrites On The Hill Should

Donald Trump will never build the Great Wall he envisioned on this country’s southern border, but his lawyers and minions are erecting the largest stonewall against Congressional oversight since Nixon’s presidency. In a scolding letter to Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), White House attorneys have said that the administration will simply reject some 81 subpoenas from the House Judiciary Committee that he chairs.

The reason offered for this blanket refusal to cooperate sounds much like a Trump tweet. “Congressional investigations are intended to obtain information to aid in evaluating potential legislation,” huffed the president’s lawyers, “not to harass political opponents or to pursue an unauthorized ‘do-over’ of exhaustive law enforcement investigations conducted by the Department of Justice”

Requests for information from the House Oversight Committee, the House Intelligence Committee, the House Ways and Means Committee, and the Senate Intelligence Committee have all met with roughly the same arrogant attitude — as if the executive branch has no obligation to provide any information at all to Congress. Such dismissive responses represent a profound violation of the Constitutional order.

Top Judiciary Republican: Investigating Trump Is Unconstitutional

The highest-ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), is complaining that attempts to investigate Trump’s crimes and corruptions are in violation of the Constitution. But experts say he’s full of it.

The committee, chaired by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), recently issued a large document request to more than 80 different individuals and entities to investigate Trump and his administration for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and corruption.

Collins, who leads the minority on the committee, sent Nadler a letter in which Collins whined about the “sprawling investigation.”

GOP’s fear and loathing of Hillary Clinton cost you $100 million

NOTE:  With the increasing chorus of Republican congress members calling for Special Prosecutor Mueller to be fired, we’re looking back at their investigations into Hillary Clinton, which ran on and on and on and cost the American taxpayers tens of millions of dollars and resulted in absolutely nothing.

The following article by James Williams was posted on the Newstalk Florida website July 29, 2016:

Republican’s hate Hillary Clinton because she is smarter than they are

PHILADELPHIA — The conventions are over and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton watched as her party did a wonderful job of showing her to be human. A wife, mother, grandmother, someone who loves life and doesn’t mind that she has a boisterous laugh.

Clinton is smart, and likes to play hard ball with the boys and that is something the Republican’s in and out of Washington hate. Let me say that Hillary Clinton is not a saint, nor has she always made the wisest choices, but she is a political survivor in a man’s world.

Truth is that the Republican’s in the House and the Senate have had two decades of defining Hillary Clinton as un trustworthy and un truthful. They have done it spending more taxpayers money on battling her than any other political figure in history. Continue reading “GOP’s fear and loathing of Hillary Clinton cost you $100 million”

GOP Congressional Investigation into Democrats

As the Republicans on the committees investigating Russian interference into our 2016 are now putting party over the good of the country in increasingly serious ways, we though a look back at their Benghazi investigation might help people put things into perspective (and point out some of the falseness of their position as the party of “fiscal responsibility”).

Note that they spent $7.8 million. We like using the zeros to help people visualize the size of the expenditure: $7,800,000.

House Benghazi committee files final report and shuts down

WASHINGTON — The special congressional investigation into the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi is officially over now that the panel filed its final report the day before the House adjourned for the year.

The Select Committee on Benghazi initially released its findings in June but remained in place for months afterward trying to declassify supporting documents like emails and interview transcripts for public release. Continue reading “GOP Congressional Investigation into Democrats”

Fox Gave Benghazi More Than 10 Times As Much Coverage As Trump’s Botched Yemen Raid

The following article by Matt Gertz was posted on the Media Matters website March 3, 2017:

After One Month Of Coverage, The Raid Is The Benghazi That Wasn’t

In the month after Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens was killed in a botched raid on a terrorist camp in Yemen, none of Fox News’ prime-time hosts even mentioned the incident.

In the month after Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens was killed in a botched raid on a terrorist camp in Yemen, none of Fox News’ prime-time hosts even mentioned the incident.

During that January 29 raid — the first counterterrorism operation of President Donald Trump’s administration — “almost everything that could go wrong did,” according to The New York Times. Several news outlets have produced reports suggesting the raid was ordered without sufficient intelligence and preparation and that the administration has been untruthful about the operation.
