According to a report from the Daily Beast’s Jose Pagliery, the case being made against Donald Trump’s children — Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric — for cashing in on Donald Trump’s inauguration after his 2016 presidential win is being delayed while investigators seek testimony from Trump Org executive Allen Weisselberg.

The report states that Sunday, the District of Columbia’s attorney general was notified he will have to wait “…to find out if three more people in the Trump family circle can be forced to testify, as investigators continue to look into whether Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration committee misspent more than $1 million and enriched his own company.”

In an interview with the Beast, lead witness Stephanie Winston Wolkoff — who helped oversee the inauguration events — said the investigation is looking at “self-dealing” by the Trump family. Continue reading.

How Trump kids’ futures are in full decline now that he’s out of office

Raw Story Logo

In a biting column for the Daily Beast, Molly Jong-Fast notes that talk of a Trump family political dynasty has all but disappeared since Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election and his children are sliding into increasing irrelevance.

As Jong-Fast notes, it wasn’t that long ago when Ivanka Trump was going to use the family name and her father’s popularity with a rabid right-wing base to challenge Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for his U.S. Senate seat, Lara Trump — wife of Trump son Eric — was looking at an open North Carolina Senate seat and Don Jr. was going to run for office — somewhere.

Six months after the brutal Trump re-election loss none of those races are happening as Trump’s star has fallen and he has taken his kids down with him. Continue reading.

And the ex-president’s niece is “fairly sure” her cousins will flip on their father.

Mary Trump doesn’t doubt that her uncle, ex-President Donald Trump, will sacrifice his own children to save himself from potential prosecution.

On Monday, CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked Mary Trump if her uncle would “take one for his kids” if they were targeted by prosecutors. Both Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump work for the Trump Organization, which is under criminal investigation by authorities in New York.

“No, he wouldn’t,” responded the former president’s niece, a vocal critic of her relative. Continue reading.

NY prosecutors zeroing in on Donald Trump Jr. amid probe into Trump Organization: report

AlterNet logo

New York prosecutors are exhausting a substantial amount of resources for its investigative probe into former President Donald Trump’s personal and business finances. Now, according to The Daily Beast, Trump’s son, Don. Jr. and Allen Weisselberg described as “one of the former president’s most trusted officers” are also said to be at the center of the prosecutors’ investigation.

The publication reports that Trump Jr.’s role in the Trump Organization along with his active participation in his father’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) campaign has made him a person of interest for prosecutors.

During his father’s administration, Trump Jr. became a chief MAGA spokesman and campaigner while simultaneously serving as the Trump Organization executive vice president, fronting the business with his brother, Eric Trump. According to his company bio, Trump Jr. is involved in “deal evaluation [and] analysis,” as well as the leasing operation, among other functions. Trump Jr. has also overseen the organization’s international dealings, the growth of which were somewhat hampered due to his father’s ascension to the presidency. Continue reading.

Text Messages Show Top Trump Campaign Fundraiser’s Key Role Planning the Rally That Preceded the Siege

Caroline Wren, a Trump fundraiser, is listed as a “VIP Advisor” in a National Park Service permit for the Jan. 6th rally at the Ellipse. Text messages and a planning memo show the title downplays the active role she played in organizing the event.

In the week leading up to the Jan. 6 rally in Washington, D.C., that exploded into an attack on the Capitol, a top Trump campaign fundraiser issued a directive to a woman who had been overseeing planning for the event.

“Get the budget and vendors breakdown to me and Justin,” Caroline Wren wrote to Cindy Chafian, a self-described “constitutional conservative,” in a Dec. 28 text message obtained by ProPublica.

Wren was no ordinary event planner. She served as a deputy to Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, at Trump Victory, a joint presidential fundraising committee during the 2020 campaign. The Justin mentioned in her text was Justin Caporale, a former top aide to first lady Melania Trump, whose production company helped put on the event at the Ellipse. Continue reading.

Trump extended Secret Service protection to his adult children and three top officials as he left office

Washington Post logo

In the days before he left office, President Donald Trump instructed that his family get the best security available in the world for the next six months, at no cost — the protection of the U.S. Secret Service.

According to three people briefed on the plan, Trump issued a directive to extend post-presidency Secret Service protection to his four adult children and two of their spouses, who were not automatically entitled to receive it.

Trump also directed that three key officials leaving government continue to receive the protection for six months: former treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin, former chief of staff Mark Meadows and former national security adviser Robert C. O’Brien, two people familiar with the arrangement said. Continue reading.

DFL Party Statement on Donald Trump Jr.’s Plan to Visit Minnesota on Wednesday

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA – Today, DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement in response to reports that Donald Trump Jr. will visit Minnesota next Wednesday:

“The Trump administration has failed Minnesotans, plain and simple. Donald Trump Jr. plans to visit our state next week in an attempt to distract from his father’s disastrous response to the coronavirus pandemic that’s infected nearly 80,000 Minnesotans, and left thousands more out of work. Duluth’s July unemployment rate was higher than at any point during the Great Recession, and our state just saw our one-day record for positive coronavirus cases. Donald Trump Jr. was born into privilege and doesn’t understand what everyday Minnesotans are going through as a result of his father’s incompetence and failed economic policies. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris understand working families, and that’s why they will win Minnesota, help elect DFLers up and down the ballot, and make Donald Trump a one-term president.”

Trump Jr. And Kimberly Guilfoyle’s Paris Trip Cost Taxpayers At Least $64,000 For Security

The couple has recently complained about Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s “nepotism” and taxpayer-financed perks.

WASHINGTON ― Taxpayers shelled out at least $64,443 to safeguard the president’s eldest son and his girlfriend during a two-day visit to Paris in 2018 that included a stay at a $1,000-a-night hotel a few blocks from the Champs-Elysees, according to U.S. Secret Service records.

Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle, a fundraiser for President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, visited the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, posting photos on social media, a few months after they began a romantic relationship. According to those posts, the pair then went to Monaco for a friend’s birthday party.

Secret Service documents show that taxpayers spent $31,104 on air travel and $23,036 for hotel rooms on July 11-12, 2018, split between the Hotel de Sers and the Prince de Galles. An additional $10,303 was spent to rent three cars from an agency that offers armored vehicles. Continue reading.

Fox cuts off Trump Jr. in middle of angry rant about dad’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein

Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo kept trying to end an interview with the first son about Donald Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Donald Trump Jr. was abruptly cut off during an interview on Fox Business Wednesday morning, after he wouldn’t stop yelling about Donald Trump’s ties to accused child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

In the interview with Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo, Trump Jr. was trying to tie former President Bill Clinton to Epstein, while downplaying Trump’s relationship with the billionaire who died in prison while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking charges.

“I see the media every day they flash the two pictures that exist of two billionaires, Jeffrey Epstein and my father, in New York City and they try to make that association,” Trump Jr. said. Continue reading.

What the Trump Campaign Is Up To on YouTube (Hint: It Involves Aliens, Bin Laden and Ivanka)

Mostly stymied from holding his mass rallies, the world’s most famous Twitter user is turning to a different part of the internet — but with the same message.

Donald Trump is famous — and infamous — for his use of Twitter and Facebook. But particularly since the pandemic forced him to largely swear off his favorite mass, in-person rallies, his campaign has been amping up the use of another form of alternative media: YouTube and podcasts.

The president’s most recent sit-down interview? As it happens, it occurred last week on “Triggered,” a YouTube program hosted by his namesake son. In a conversation in the White House’s map room, Trump Jr. quizzed his dad about everything from who his favorite child is to whether aliens exist — to a Fox News report that Osama bin Laden wanted to assassinate President Barack Obama so that Joe Biden would ascend to the presidency.

This was no ordinary campaign video, nor was it a random question, this week’s episode of “Trump, Inc.” makes clear. “Triggered” followed the exchange about bin Laden with a campaign ad that repeated the same point, showing how closely the program’s conversations are tied in with campaign talking points. “Trump, Inc.” explores the Trump campaign’s universe of podcasts and YouTube shows, which has expanded since the coronavirus began locking down huge swaths of the country. (The campaign did not respond to requests for comment.)
