Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Monday apologized for comparing COVID-19 vaccine and mask rules to the Holocaust, declaring that “there is no comparison” between the safety measures and the genocide of 6 million Jews during World War II.

Greene delivered the public apology following a visit earlier Monday to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum weeks after she drew condemnation from fellow Republicans for the remarks over the long Memorial Day recess.

“I have made a mistake,” Greene told reporters. “I wanted to say that I know that words that I’ve stated were hurtful, and for that I am very sorry.” Continue reading.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Don’t Believe In Evolution, That Type Of So-Called ‘Science’

Huff Post logo

The conspiracy theory-endorsing Georgia Republican put air quotes around the word “science.”

Conspiracy theory-endorsing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) probably shocked no one with her latest anti-evolution declaration about science.

“I don’t believe in evolution,” the QAnon adherent told former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon on his “Real America’s Voice” podcast this week.

“I don’t believe in that type of so-called science. I don’t believe in evolution. I believe in God,” Greene continued, gesturing with air quotes during a discussion about the potential origin of the coronavirus. An estimated 40% of Americans believe God created humans as described in the Bible, according to a 2019 poll. Greene’s ahistorical claim that the Nazis were socialists

Washington Post logo

“You know, Nazis were the National Socialist Party. Just like the Democrats are now a national socialist party.”

— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), speaking at an “America First” rally, May 27

Those who apparently do not know history are doomed to make basic mistakes.

It seems so simple. The official name of the Adolf Hitler’s political party — the Nazis — had the word “socialist” in it. Ergo, it must have been a socialist party. And that means that Democrats, some of whom call themselves socialists, must be Nazis. Or something like that.

Greene is not the first Republican lawmaker to make this facile observation. So here’s a quick history lesson. (The video above also provides a useful primer on socialism.) Continue reading.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is facing calls to boot Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) out of the GOP conference for her remarks comparing COVID-19 mask and vaccine rules to the genocide of 6 million Jews during World War II.

“Just stop. This is demented and dangerous. There is no comparison,” Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) tweeted at Greene Tuesday after she doubled down on her Holocaust comparison.

“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: while we cannot stop her from calling herself a Republican, we can and should refuse to let her caucus with the @HouseGOP.” Continue reading.

Video resurfaces showing Marjorie Taylor Greene saying she wouldn’t want a statue of Hitler taken down

Raw Story Logo

As Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene continues to take heat for her comments comparing mask mandates to Nazi policies against the Jews during the Holocaust, a video from last year showing Greene arguing against the removal of Confederate monuments, saying that given the choice, she’d advocate to allow a statue of Hitler or Satan.

The video, which was first resurfaced by Punchbowl News reporter Jake Sherman, shows then-candidate Greene speaking before a Dalton, Georgia, city council meeting on June 15.

“We’re seeing situations where Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, all kinds of statues are being attacked, and it seems to be just an effort to take down history,” Greene says in the video. “And whether I see a statue that may be something that I would full disagree with, like Adolph Hitler — maybe a statue of Satan himself — I would not want to say take it down, but again, it’s so that I could tell my children and teach others about who these people are and what they did.” Continue reading.

AlterNet Logo

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Tuesday quickly deleted a tweet she promoted from one of her supporters that called Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) a “moron” and a “feckless c**t.”

As flagged by the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake, Greene promoted a tweet by right-wing Twitter account @ASimplePatriot on Tuesday that used obscene language to attack McCarthy over his criticism of Greene’s latest comparison of public health advocates to Nazis.

“Look you moron, nobody supported Israel in their recent conflict with Hamas more than MTG,” the Green supporter wrote. “Her analogy may not have been perfect but you seriously need to get a grip you feckless c**t. Pelosi is the villain here.” Continue reading.

CBN host gives a tortured defense of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Holocaust remarks

Raw Story Logo

Christian Broadcasting Network commentator David Brody, appearing on the far right streaming website Real America’s Voice Monday tried to defend Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s remarks made on his show Thursday by falsely claiming the embattled Georgia Republican Congresswoman was referring to “pre-Holocaust” Germany when she talked about Jews being “taken into gas chambers.”

Rep. Greene was comparing Speaker Pelosi’s policies on masks with Hitler’s genocide of millions of Jews and other minorities.

Her remarks sparked massive outrage, intensifying calls for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to remove her from Congress. McCarthy hasn’t bothered to even acknowledge Greene’s antisemitic remarks. Continue reading.

Marjorie Taylor Greene attacks fellow Republicans in unhinged rant about ‘pedophile rings in DC’

Raw Story Logo

The woman derided as the “QAnon congresswoman” blasted the Republican Party while in Arizona to support the GOP’s harshly criticized audit of the 2020 vote.

What kind of corruption are you seeing?” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was asked.

“Well, I just see that they’re not doing what say they’re going to do. That’s what I was saying in there was, you know, Republicans always talk about funding and building a wall, ending abortion. Um, they say all these things, but they’re got to follow through on them,” Greene charged. “It’s one thing to say them, but we have to do them.” Continue reading.

The Hill logo

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Friday blasted Speaker Nancy Pelosi(D-Calif.) over her mask policy for the House floor, likening it to the Holocaust.

“This woman is mentally ill,” Greene said on Real America’s Voice. “You know, we can look back at a time in history when people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany. And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about.”

The comments mark the latest in a string of controversial remarks for Greene. Continue reading.

Marjorie Taylor Greene would have already been fired in any other workplace — Congress should be no different: former US Rep

Raw Story Logo

he antics of Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene have become so egregious that “it’s time for the House to use the tools at its disposal to sanction her accordingly,” writes Donna F. Edwards in The Washington Post this Wednesday.

As a former member of the Committee on Standards and Official Conduct during her time in Congress, Edwards says that there’s
“no question” that the committee can and should investigate Greene “and consider every formal sanction for her behavior, from a reprimand, to censure, to a fine, to removal.”

“Greene’s continued harassment of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is such a serious matter. She has verbally accosted Ocasio-Cortez on and off the floor of the chamber,” Edwards writes. “She has engaged inappropriately with other members as well, including Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), who took the extraordinary step of asking to have her office moved following a verbal altercation in January. Greene has repeatedly accused Ocasio-Cortez, Bush and other women of color in the House of supporting terrorists — a dangerous and inflammatory smear at a perilous moment in our politics.” Continue reading.
