First lady Melania Trump condemned bullying during remarks at a United Nations luncheon Wednesday, calling on leaders to “step up, come together and ensure our children’s future is bright.

“We must teach each child the values of empathy and communication that are at the core of the kindness, mindfulness, integrity and leadership which can only be taught by example,” the first lady said. “By our own example, we must teach children to be good stewards of the world they will inherit.” Continue reading “Melania Trump condemned bullying during UN lunch. Melania and Ivanka Trump, following tradition of western visitors, forgo headscarves in Saudi Arabia

The following article by Philip Bump was posted on the Washington Post website May 20, 2017:

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — The last time a U.S. first lady visited this Middle Eastern kingdom, she was criticized for appearing in public without a headscarf. Michelle Obama was blasted on Saudi social media — as well as by a prominent American tweeter named Donald Trump — for not covering her head during her 2015 visit, as women are expected to do in this conservative Islamic country.

So there was some anticipation about whether first lady Melania Trump and first daughter Ivanka Trump would cover their heads during their visit this weekend to Riyadh. Continue reading “Melania and Ivanka Trump, following tradition of western visitors, forgo headscarves in Saudi Arabia”

First lady Melania Trump has several companies that are still active enterprises, raising questions about whether they will be used for profit while she is in the White House.

Beyond the 564 companies listed in then-candidate Donald Trump’s May 2016 financial disclosure were seven companies associated with his wife.

All but one of her companies had been listed in the disclosure as active, and five of the seven were still active as of Feb. 21. The one Melania Trump company he listed last year as having inactive assets — Melania LLC — appears to be an ongoing and active company in the records of the New York State Division of Corporations. Melania Trump missed out on ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’ to make millions, lawsuit says

The following article by Tom Hamberger was posted on the Washington Post website February 7, 2017:

An attorney for first lady Melania Trump argued in a lawsuit filed Monday that an article falsely alleging that she once worked for an escort service hurt her chance to establish “multimillion dollar business relationships” during the years in which she would be “one of the most photographed women in the world.”

The suit — filed Monday in New York Supreme Court, a state trial court, in Manhattan — against Mail Media, the owner of the Daily Mail, said the article published by the Daily Mail and its online division last August caused Trump’s brand, Melania, to lose “significant value” as well as “major business opportunities that were otherwise available to her.” The suit said the article had damaged her “unique, once in a lifetime opportunity” to “launch a broad-based commercial brand.” Continue reading “Melania Trump missed out on ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’ to make millions, lawsuit says”
