Trump called Arizona Senate president to thank her ‘for pushing to prove any fraud’ in election, emails show

Newly released emails sent to and from Arizona state senators reveal that President Donald Trump and his lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani reached out personally to urge GOP officials there to move forward with a partisan recount of the 2020 election, despite a lack of evidence of widespread fraud or other issues.

Hundreds of pages of emails related to the GOP-ordered audit underway in Maricopa County were obtained by the nonprofit legal watchdog group American Oversight through a records request under the Freedom of Information Act. The group published them Friday, along with a scathing statement that decried the audit as a “sham partisan crusade.”

In one email dated Dec. 2, Arizona state Senate President Karen Fann (R) told two constituents that she had spoken with Giuliani “at least 6 times over the past two weeks.” Continue reading.

Rudy Giuliani rages at ‘anti-American’ prosecutors: It’s ‘unconstitutional’ to investigate Trump

Raw Story Logo

Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday asserted that it is “unconstitutional” to investigate former President Donald Trump.

During an interview on Newsmax, Giuliani blasted Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. and New York Attorney General Letitia James over the ongoing investigation into whether the Trump Organization illegally manipulated property values.

“This is an investigation in search of a crime, not a crime that’s being investigated,” Giuliani said. “They’ve gone through his whole life searching for something they can make into a criminal act. That’s a very, very dangerous thing to do for America. In fact, it’s anti-American. I think [it’s] unconstitutional.” Continue reading.

Giuliani’s legal profession does not shield him from seizure of electronics, prosecutors say

Washington Post logo

NEW YORK — Rudolph W. Giuliani, the onetime personal attorney to former president Donald Trump, cannot claim his profession should have shielded him from the search warrant for electronics executed at his home and office last month, federal prosecutors argued in a filing unsealed Thursday evening.

The former New York mayor, through his attorneys, has argued that because of the extensive business-related communications authorities are likely to find on his phones and computers, it is impossible for the Justice Department to sort through his data without infringing on the rights of his clients.

In late April, FBI agents acting on a warrant obtained by the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan seized 18 electronic devices from Giuliani’s New York home and office, including some belonging to employees of Giuliani Partners. A phone belonging to D.C.-area attorney Victoria Toensing also was recovered. Continue reading.

Huff Post logo

FBI suspect Sam Lazar posed for photos with Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano, who backed Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

A militant Donald Trump supporter whose photo is featured on an FBI wanted list because he was caught on video battling with police officers at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 attended a political event last week for a Trump-loving Pennsylvania politician who backed the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The event’s headliner: Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who called for “trial by combat” during his speech on Jan. 6 and whose phones and computers were seized in a Justice Department investigation last month.

Samuel Lazar, who is Capitol suspect No. 275 on the FBI website, posed for photos alongside right-wing Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano (R) at the May 15 event headlined by Giuliani. A tipster sent the photos to HuffPost after spotting them on Facebook. Continue reading.

Rudy Giuliani is desperately begging Trump to help as feds close in — and is being ignored: report

Raw Story Logo

Former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, who was a central figure in two separate scandals that twice resulted in former President Donald Trump’s impeachment, is reportedly being ignored as he begs his one-time boss for help.

The Daily Beast is reporting that Giuliani and his allies have been sending frantic pleas for help after the FBI raided the former New York mayor’s apartment earlier this spring.

Trump, however, has refused to come to Giuliani’s rescue, which has led to “simmering frustrations” among Giuliani’s allies. Continue reading.

Trump and Rudy Giuliani’s ties to opioid crisis revealed by HBO ‘The Crime of the Century’ filmmaker

Raw Story Logo

According to documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney, America’s opioid crisis — as bad as it continues to be — was on the precipice of becoming much worse under the administration of former president Donald Trump.

Appearing on the Daily Beast’s “The New Abnormal” podcast with host Molly Jong-Fast, the man behind the “Going Clear” expose of Scientology described what he discovered when looking into how Big Pharma helped create a massive addiction problem.

Giuliani’s son tells Russian state TV people don’t want to live in America after FBI raided his dad

Raw Story Logo

The son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani went on Russian TV to push conspiracy theories about the federal investigation of his father.

Andrew Giuliani accused the American government of hacking his father’s iCloud account (the feds reportedly gained access via a warrant).

“The thing that’s been amazing is over the last couple of weeks, how many people — and some of these people are people who haven’t talked to my father in five or ten years — have come out and said, ‘We may not have always agreed with your politics, but we completely agree this is absolutely the wrong thing to see our Justice Department politicize something as badly as they have.’ So it’s been people who have been very strong Trump supporters and some who have not been Trump supporters. They don’t want to live in a country where you’re going to have a Justice Department that is going to politicize something to the point where a former president’s personal counsel is going actually be spied on by the Justice Department,” he claimed. Rudy Giuliani’s ‘hallucinatory’ Ukraine dossier may come back to haunt him: report

Raw Story Logo

Former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani two years ago began pushing an anti-Biden dossier based on purported information he’d gathered from Ukrainian officials — and now it may come back to haunt him legally.

The Daily Beast reports that prosecutors are looking into whether Giuliani’s dossier was part of a paid lobbying campaign by the former New York City mayor done on behalf of former Ukrainian officials.

Giuliani initially pushed the dossier to Trump administration officials during his campaign to oust former ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, but officials who spoke with the Daily Beast say that they were deeply unimpressed by its contents. Continue reading.

Giuliani’s Legal Bills Are Growing. His Allies Want Trump to Pay Them.

New York Times logo

As Rudolph Giuliani faces an escalating federal investigation and defamation suits, his advisers believe he should benefit from a $250 million Trump campaign war chest.

As a federal investigation into Rudolph W. Giuliani escalates, his advisers have been pressing aides to former President Donald J. Trump to reach into a $250 million war chest to pay Mr. Giuliani for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election on Mr. Trump’s behalf.

The pressure from Mr. Giuliani’s camp has intensified since F.B.I. agents executed search warrants at Mr. Giuliani’s home and office last week, according to people familiar with the discussions, and comes as Mr. Giuliani has hired new lawyers and is facing his own protracted — and costly — legal battles.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have been examining communications between Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Trump’s former personal lawyer, and Ukrainian officials as he tried to unearth damaging information about President Biden before the election. The prosecutors are investigating whether Mr. Giuliani lobbied the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials who were helping him, a potential violation of federal law. Continue reading.

‘Tells you a lot’: George Conway explains why Trump’s former lawyer is in deep legal trouble

Raw Story Logo

In an interview with the Daily Beast’s Molly Jong-Fast, conservative attorney George Conway got right to the point and explained that the way in which the Justice Department is going after former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is indicative that they already have a solid case against him and, in Conway’s words, the man once called “America’s mayor” is in “deep shit.”

In the “New Abnormal” podcast, which can be listened to below, the husband of Kellyanne Conway said the DOJ doesn’t take going after a lawyer lightly, much less one who has been representing the president of the United States.

After a discussion about Donald Trump, who Conway referred to as “the big liar,” the conversation turned to Giuliani’s legal problems after last week’s raid where his phones and computers were confiscated. Continue reading.
