Hello friends and neighbors,
We continue to live in difficult times, and to be silent when my neighbors are suffering is not an option. I have not experienced the same, raw, trauma that my Black friends and neighbors have lived with their whole lives, but I see it in their faces, and hear it in their voices. I’m heartbroken by the loss of Daunte Wright, who was senselessly killed by police. I’m frustrated by a militarized response to public grief, and angry at crimes of opportunity and looting.
Despite all of this, our good work at the county continues on, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve. We continue to make progress on ensuring employees are paid at a level adequate to live and thrive on, we are set to state our ambitious goals of having Hennepin County operations be net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and are taking steps to ensure that we are good stewards of the taxpayer’s money when making investments and operating our transit and transportation systems. There is much work to be done yet, and I’m looking forward to work on this together. If you have any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or my team to set up time to chat.
Commissioner Anderson’s Newsmakers Interview with CCX Media
In April, Commissioner Anderson appeared on the CCX Media Newsmakers segment to talk about the work he has been doing since taking office in January. Commissioner Anderson spoke about expanding broadband as well as ending veterans homelessness in the county. See the full interview here.
Commissioner Anderson held first of many Town Halls
In March, we had our first Town Hall that we held via Microsoft Teams and discussed what Commissioner Anderson has been working on in his first few months. Hennepin County disburses over $69 million to small businesses
As of March 15, 2021, Hennepin County Government has disbursed 6,469 small business grants totaling $69.4 million – $5.3 million of which went to businesses in District 7. This map shows the District 7 businesses which received grants – you can find the full online dashboard for the whole county here.
Share your voice and help shape policy: apply for a citizen advisory board
Beginning April 1, Hennepin County is accepting applications for citizen advisory board vacancies:
- Community Action Partnership (CAP) – one local elected official position
- Lower Minnesota River Watershed District Board – one at-large position

Sign up in Hennepin County’s new vaccine registration system
Hennepin County is offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to people who register and meet current eligibility guidelines. Vaccine clinics are by appointment only. No walk-ins accepted.
Upcoming vaccine clinics:
- Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through June 29: Earle Brown Heritage Center
- Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through June 30: Earle Brown Heritage Center
- Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. through June 24: Earle Brown Heritage Center
- Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through June 26: Robbinsdale Middle School
You do not need to be a Hennepin County resident to register.
Once signed up, you will be contacted to make an appointment when you meet eligibility guidelines and we have availability for you.
Registering for Hennepin County’s vaccine program does not make you ineligible to sign up for other vaccine tools, including Minnesota’s Vaccine Connector.
