Rudy Giuliani on Sunday said while he has no knowledge of President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, paying any women in addition to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, he believes Cohen would have done so if he deemed it “necessary.”
“I have no knowledge of that. But I would think if it was necessary, yes.” Giuliani, who recently joined Trump’s team of lawyers, told ABC’s “This Week” when asked about Cohen making payments to other women.
Giuliani’s latest remarks come after the former New York City mayor told Fox News last week that Trump reimbursed Cohen for the payment. The president had previously said he had no knowledge of it.“I don’t think anyone believes that he knew about it at the time,” Giuliani said Sunday of the $130,000 payment to Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
The question, Giuliani argued, is when did Trump learn of the payment.
“I don’t know when the president learned about it,” he said.
Giuliani conducted interviews with multiple news outlets late last week to clarify his comments about the reimbursement.
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said on CNN, meanwhile, that she doesn’t know of any potential payoffs similar to the one made to Daniels, who claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006.
“They didn’t cross my desk as campaign manager. And I would also tell you that I’m happy to answer these questions, but I have limited visibility into what Mayor Giuliani is talking about, because, politely, he is the president’s counsel. I am the president’s counselor,” she said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
