Rep. Laurie Pryor (HD48A) Update: November 25, 2020

Neighbors,

As the pandemic erupts, many of our small business owners, workers and families are struggling. Tuesday morning, Gov. Walz and House legislative leaders announced an aid package to assist our neighbors and friends who have been significantly impacted by COVID-19. We are working to reach a compromise bill to pass in an upcoming special session, possibly as soon as next week.

COVIDaware MN

On Monday, Governor Walz announced the mobile app COVIDaware MN, a new tool to keep Minnesotans informed as the virus surges across the state. COVIDaware MN is a mobile app that sends an alert if the user is in contact with someone who contracts the virus. The app is free, anonymous and voluntary. To learn more and download the app, click here.

First in the Nation for Voting!

Once again, Minnesota led the nation in voter participation. Today, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon announced 79.96 % of eligible Minnesotans participated in the 2020 General Election. Congratulations, Minnesota! You can read more here.

Happy Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving will be unlike any we’ve experienced. We will all miss being with family, but I will take the day to be appreciative for all my blessings. I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Pledge to defeat COVID-19

I have joined a bipartisan group of legislators to support the Pledge to Defeat COVID-19. These are common sense choices to defeat this terrible pandemic. Will you take the pledge?

Take the Pledge wide

Everyone can work to reduce the spread of COVID-19

  • Wear masks when in public. 10-50% of virus carriers are asymptomatic (are not experiencing any symptoms). Wearing masks helps control the virus and has been shown to lessen COVID-19 spread.
  • Avoid enclosed spaces with groups of people, where the virus can linger in the air for long periods of time.
  • Get tested if you have cold or flu-like symptoms.
  • Stay six feet away from others.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or sleeve, or a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands afterwards.
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom or before eating. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your face – especially your eyes, nose and mouth – with unwashed hands.
  • Up-to-date guidance is available from the Department of Health.

Please continue to reach out with any input, ideas, or feedback about the issues important to you. I value hearing from you, so please don’t hesitate to call or email me any time. You can also connect with me on Facebook here. It’s an honor to represent you at the State Capitol.

Sincerely,

Laurie Pryor
