Fox & Friends filibuster freakout: If they end it ‘Democrats will rule our country forever’

Fox News on Wednesday seemingly made a huge admission: conservatives and their policies do not reflect the will of the majority of Americans.

That’s essentially what “Fox & Friends” telegraphed to viewers when co-host Ainsley Earhardt responded to a clip of President Joe Biden making news by merely saying he supports reforming the filibuster – not even eliminating it.

“If they end the filibuster, the Democrats will rule our country forever,” she warned. “We will become a socialist country.”

That’s by definition false. Continue reading.

Jerry Falwell Jr. just unmasked conservatism — and we should seriously thank him for it

AlterNet logoI suppose we owe Jerry Falwell Jr. a debt of gratitude. I’m serious.

Falwell is the son of the late Jerry Falwell, the man most responsible for bringing fundamentalist Christianity out of the political wilderness during Ronald Reagan’s presidency. Junior, along with Franklin Graham, himself a scion of a religious dynasty, is perhaps the president’s greatest champion among white evangelical Christians.

He appeared on “Fox & Friends” yesterday. Among other things, he accused Donald Trump’s enemies, including the press, of hyping COVID-19, the new strain of the coronavirus spreading around the world, panicking global markets and closing down entertainment and cultural events here and elsewhere. He, like Tom Cotton, the fascist senator from Arkansas, believes the disease outbreak can be blamed on totalitarian regimes in the east. For Cotton, that’s China. For Falwell, that’s North Korea. (While Falwell was on air, the president announced a state of national emergency related to the outbreak, undermining his and Cotton’s search for a scapegoat for his sake.) Continue reading.

Rudy Giuliani spins wild Ukraine conspiracies as Fox & Friends hosts desperately try to cut him off

AlterNet logoRudy Giuliani breathlessly uncorked new conspiracy theories about Joe Biden’s activity in Ukraine, as nervous “Fox & Friends” hosts tried to cut him off.

President Donald Trump’s personal attorney appeared Friday morning on Fox News, where he expanded on the conspiracies that form the heart of the impeachment case against the president.

“All of a sudden Biden has announced the most important guy in Ukraine, he is going to give out the money, then he hires Biden’s son,” Giuliani said. “Do you know what happened in between? He made a deal with Biden, you be on board against (former president Petro) Poroshenko taking my company, when they move to take the company. That’s when Biden came in and had the prosecutor fired, and within four months the crooked oligarch sitting with $5 billion comes back to the Ukraine, he is not prosecuted. He is sitting there fat and happy with his company.” Continue reading.

‘Fox & Friends’ hosts whine that MAGA hats are now stigmatized: ‘You’re hated’ for wearing it

AlterNet logoThe co-hosts of “Fox & Friends” decried liberal commentators who criticized Washington Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki’s decision to put on a red “Make America Great Hat” during the World Series champion’s recent visit to the White House.

“All he did was support the president of the United States — the president of the country he is in,” co-host Brian Kilmeade argued.

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt expressed a similar sentiment, claiming that she found it to be “amazing” that people hated Trump so much.

Fox & Friends hosts deflate after legal analyst shoots down latest GOP impeachment talking point

AlterNet logoThe hosts of “Fox & Friends” on Thursday appeared disappointed when legal analyst Andrew Napolitano gave them unfortunate news about the White House’s latest objections to House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry.

Specifically, Napolitano addressed the letter sent to Congress by White House counsel Pat Cipollone, which claimed that the executive branch did not have to comply with any subpoenas of documents until the House formally voted to open an impeachment inquiry.

“The Republicans changed the rules when John Boehner was the Speaker of the House allowing each individual committee to issue subpoenas without a House-wide vote,” he explained. “So those subpoenas are valid, and those people who resist them, ignore them, who put them in a drawer, do so at your peril.”

Trump’s Fox & Friends pals finally concede Mexico ain’t paying for that wall

“The president never should have said Mexico was gonna pay for the wall.”

President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign was centered on one grand campaign promise: he would build a massive wall along the entire southern border of the nation, and its construction would be completely paid for by Mexico. Three years later, almost no construction has happened and Mexico has repeatedly made it clear that it will not be paying a cent.

On Thursday, Trump’s dear friends on Fox & Friends finally admitted what has been obvious for years: this was an empty claim, a broken promise, and a huge failure on the part of Trump.

The show’s famously pro-Trump hosts made the admission that Mexico is never paying for the wall in a segment highlighting the administration’s plan to unilaterally divert $3.6 billion in funds from 127 defense programs to begin major construction.

Trump Interview Devolves Into Random Shouting as ‘Fox & Friends’ Hosts Sit There Stunned

The following article by Matt Wilstein was posted on the Daily Beast website April 26, 2018:

Even the hosts of ‘Fox & Friends’ couldn’t quite believe what they were hearing Thursday morning while talking to the president by phone.

President Donald Trump seemed chipper enough when he called into his favorite morning show on Thursday for the first time in more than a year. “I picked a very, very special day because it’s Melania’s birthday,” he said.

But within minutes, the president was railing against the “horrible” Iran deal and lamenting the fact that his personal doctor Ronny Jackson was forced to withdraw his nomination for VA secretary.

The three hosts could barely get a word in edgewise, let alone questions, over the course of the 30-minute interview. Though they did get Trump to admit for the first time that he did stay overnight in Moscow in 2013 when the alleged “pee tape” was supposedly recorded. “I went to Russia for a day or so… of course I stayed there,” the president said.

As time went on, it seemed that Trump was saying more and more as Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade were saying less and less. Trump ranted against “sleepy-eyes Chuck Todd” for questioning his deal with Kim Jong Un and then pivoted to attacking the panels on CNN for criticizing him on a nightly basis.

“When you look at some of the others, you look at, like CNN, they’ll have a council of seven people, and of the seven people, everyone of them is against me,” Trump screamed. “I’m saying, where do they even find these people?”

“I’m not your doctor, Mr. President, but I would recommend you watch less of them,” Kilmeade interjected.

When Trump replied, “I don’t watch them at all,” Doocy joked: “Well that makes it easy.”

Did Trump just make a ‘hugely damning admission’ in the Stormy Daniels case?

The following article by Aaron Blake was posted on the Washington Post website April 26, 2018:

President Trump, for the first time, said that Michael Cohen represented him in efforts to silence Stormy Daniels in an interview with “Fox & Friends” April 26. (Allie Caren/The Washington Post)

President Trump made a rare public comment about the Michael Cohen-Stormy Daniels case Thursday morning, playing down the lawyer’s work for him and insisting that he didn’t know about Cohen’s business activities.

But Trump also said something that would seem … less than ideal. While describing Cohen’s allegedly limited work for him — a “tiny fraction” of his legal work, Trump assured — Trump confirmed to “Fox and Friends” that Cohen “represented” him in the Daniels case. Trump just accused Comey of lying under oath. (He misquoted ‘Fox & Friends’ to do it.)

The following article by Avi Selk was posted on the Washington Post website March 18, 2018:

President Trump continued on Sunday to attack federal law enforcement agencies investigating his 2016 campaign, tweeting that former FBI director James B. Comey had “clearly” lied under oath in testimony before a Senate committee last year.

The president (not for the first time) cited “Fox & Friends” as evidence for his claim. But Trump misrepresented what was said on Sunday’s talk show — and misquoted the Senate hearing at which Comey testified. Continue reading “Trump just accused Comey of lying under oath. Alec Baldwin’s Trump returns to SNL to get his intelligence briefing from ‘Fox and Friends’

The following article by Elahe Izadi was posted on the Washington Post website February 4, 2018:

“Saturday Night Live” kicked off this week’s episode with a cold open sketch that lampooned “Fox & Friends” and included a cameo from President Trump impersonator Alec Baldwin, watching the morning show from bed.

“We want to say a big hello to all of our fans out there,” the Ainsley Earhardt character (Heidi Gardner) says. “Whether you’re fixing breakfast, or getting dressed for work, or laying in the Lincoln Bedroom tweeting with an Egg McMuffin on your chest — hello!” Continue reading “Alec Baldwin’s Trump returns to SNL to get his intelligence briefing from ‘Fox and Friends’”
