#UnwantedIvanka Is The Latest Trump Family Meme

The cold-shouldered response to her interrupting politicians at the G20 summit has seen her photoshopped into other political events beyond her reach

Ivanka Trump’s presence on the global stage often prompts questions of what exactly her role as advisor to her father President Donald Trump entails, as well as jokes about her participating in ‘Bring Your Daughter To Work’ days.

The First Daughter attended the G20 Summit in Osaka this weekend for an event on women’s empowerment, following the launch of the initiative launched two years ago. However, the moment which has attracted the most attention was a clip of her repeatedly interrupting a conversation between world leaders, and their bemused reactions.

In an Instagram Story uploaded by the French Presidential palace, clearly purveyors of political satire, Ivanka can be seen on the fringe of the conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau and head of the IMF Christine Lagarde.

Feeling That Trump Will ‘Say Anything,’ Europe Is Less Restrained, Too

HAMBURG, Germany — The Europeans have stopped trying to paper over their differences with President Trump and the United States.

Traditionally respectful of American leadership and mindful of the country’s crucial role in European defense and global trade, European leaders normally repress or soften their criticism of United States presidents. Europeans were generally not happy with President Barack Obama’s reluctance to involve the country in Libya and Syria, for example, or his tardiness to engage in what became an international confrontation with Russia in Ukraine, but their criticism was quiet. Australian reporter tears into Trump’s performance at G-20

The following article by Dylan Stableford was posted on the Yahoo News site:

President Trump declared his trip to the G-20 summit a “great success.” Chris Uhlmann, the political editor for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, saw it a bit differently.

“We learned that Donald Trump has pressed fast-forward on the decline of the United States as a global leader,” Uhlmann said on air in a segment that has gone viral. “He managed to isolate his nation, to confuse and alienate his allies, and to diminish America.”

Uhlmann described Trump as “an uneasy, lonely, awkward figure” at the gathering of world leaders in Hamburg, Germany. Continue reading “Australian reporter tears into Trump’s performance at G-20”

John Podesta: Why is Trump tweeting about me when he should be doing his job?

The following commentary from John Podesta was posted on the Washington Post website July 8, 2017:

John Podesta, the chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, served as counselor to President Barack Obama and chief of staff to President Bill Clinton.

Weaving through the mountains on a cross-country road trip with my wife, I was quite surprised to discover that — at least according to President Trump — I am the talk of the Group of 20 meeting.

Trump tweeted: “Everyone here is talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA. Disgraceful!”

Really? Everyone? I’ve been at my share of global summits, so I sort of doubt that. The world leaders certainly have more important topics to grapple with. To take one issue close to my heart: how to deal with the challenge of climate change now that the president has declared that the United States will be withdrawing from the Paris climate accord. Or how to deal with the leadership vacuum now that Trump has turned his back on our traditional allies in Europe and Asia.
