Texas Republican’s Complaint: Biden Doesn’t Tweet Enough

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) on Monday attacked President Joe Biden for his restraint on social media, suggesting Biden isn’t “in control” because he’s not tweeting all day long.

Cornyn tweeted a quote from a Politico article that pointed out the difference between Biden and Donald Trump’s communication strategies:

“The president is not doing cable news interviews. Tweets from his account are limited and, when they come, unimaginably conventional. The public comments are largely scripted. Biden has opted for fewer sit down interviews with mainstream outlets and reporters,” Cornyn tweeted, a word-for-word paragraph from the Politico article. Continue reading.

Maddow explains exactly why John Cornyn is fighting new DOJ nominee — and it has nothing to do with qualifications

Raw Story Logo

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow speculated Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is leading the charge against a key Justice Department nominee because she humiliated him.

Wednesday, Maddow recalled the extensive corruption of Texas cop Tom Coleman who arrested four dozen people claiming that he did an undercover operation and busted them for cocaine. An overwhelming number of those arrested were Black. There was no evidence, no recording of the alleged drug sales, no proof whatsoever. Still, the court believed his testimony over that of the individuals charged. Most were convicted and some were given sentences over 100 years.

The officer, in that case, was an N-word-spouting racist honored with a police award as Lawman of the Year from then-Attorney General John Cornyn. Continue reading.

‘Pure stupidity’: GOP’s John Cornyn busted for lying about Biden’s vaccination timeline

Raw Story Logo

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) on Friday got called out by many of his own Twitter followers for shamelessly lying about President Joe Biden’s proposed timeline for getting Americans vaccinated.

Writing on Twitter, Cornyn falsely claimed that Biden said that every American would be “vaccinated by May,” and used this to attack the president for asking Americans to hold out until July to attend large gatherings.

“If every willing person in America is vaccinated for COVID-19 by May, as POTUS has said, why put our lives on hold till July the 4th?” he asked. Continue reading.

Republican senator suddenly worries about ethics after ignoring them for 4 years

AlterNet logo

In a shocking news development, Senator John Cornyn of Texas has received a revelation: Transparency and ethics suddenly matter in government, after all.

Cornyn, blissfully unfamiliar with this topic for the past four years, has rediscovered his indignation hot button with the help of a New York Times (erstwhile “fake news”) story suggesting that some key aides to President-elect Joe Biden might face ethics issues. Cornyn was just beside himself Saturday on Twitter:

Republicans warn Trump against Manafort pardon

The following article by Alexander Bolton and Jordain Carney was posted on the Hill website August 22, 2018:

Senate Republicans are warning President Trump that it would be a serious mistake to pardon his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who was convicted late Tuesday on an array of fraud charges.

“It would be an enormous mistake and misuse of his power to pardon,” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), a prominent moderate, told reporters.

Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (Texas), the second-ranking Senate GOP leader, said that pardoning Manafort “would be a mistake.”

The dumbest shutdown ever

The following article by Rachael Bade and Seung Min Kim was posted on the Politico website February 8, 2018:

The sole purpose of the all-nighter is to ensure federal employees can show up for work Friday without interruption.

Rand Paul and Nancy Pelosi have virtually nothing in common. But on Thursday night, the conservative Kentucky firebrand and San Francisco Democratic leader teamed up to push Washington into what Capitol Hill dwellers are calling the dumbest shutdown fight ever.

Incensed that a bipartisan budget deal would balloon the national debt, Paul delayed a roll call on a long-term budget agreement until after the midnight deadline to fund the government. Continue reading “The dumbest shutdown ever”
