McEnany Whines About 2016 Transition To Justify Trump’s Misconduct

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Friday justified Donald Trump’s refusal to concede that he lost the election by running through a list of grievances about how Democrats treated Trump in 2016.

Trump has refused to admit that he lost the 2020 election, instead tweeting debunked claims of voter fraud and election rigging. The General Services Administration, which is responsible for administering the transition to brief and prepare President-elect Joe, has refused to ascertain that Biden did indeed win the election and continues to block the transition.

The Trump administration’s refusal to cooperate in the transfer of power to the incoming administration is happening despite the increasing death toll of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for a nationwide vaccine distribution plan. Experts say the refusal to cooperate could make the virus, now surging across much of the country, even worse. Continue reading.

‘That’s not doing your job’: Kayleigh McEnany storms out of press conference as reporters shout questions

AlterNet logo

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany abruptly exited today’s press conference as she was criticized about her refusal to answer questions. One reporter also concluded with a few words of advice for the embattled press secretary.

On Friday McEnany appeared before a group of reporters in the White House press room to take questions for the first time in over a month. At one point during the press conference, McEnany was asked about the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ (FBI) involvement, or lack thereof, in President Donald Trump’s voter fraud case.

McEnany used the moment as an opportunity to rant about the presumed lack of assistance the Trump campaign is faced with in its efforts to challenge the outcome of the election. Then, she abruptly ended the press conference and headed for the exit. At that point, CNN White House Correspondent Kaitlin Collins confronted McEnany for repeatedly refusing to take any of her questions. Continue reading.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Is Now Formally Moonlighting as a Trump Campaign Aide

Good government groups say it’s just one more example of the blurry lines between Trump’s White House and his political operation.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany appears to have taken on a new gig. In addition to her role as a government employee, she’s now serving as a senior aide on her boss’s reelection campaign.

In an appearance on Fox News on Tuesday morning, McEnany was introduced as “Trump 2020 senior adviser and White House press secretary.” A few hours later, Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney introduced McEnany by saying she is “serving now as adviser for the Trump campaign.”

McEnany’s dual roles for the White House and the Trump reelection campaign immediately set off alarm bells among good-government advocates, who said they represent yet another instance of the often blurry lines between the Trump administration and the president’s political operation. McEnany defends Trump comments on white supremacy at combative briefing

The Hill logo

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany sparred with reporters Thursday over President Trump’s recent comments on white supremacists, arguing Trump denounced hate groups at this week’s presidential debate and denying that he has a mixed record on the issue.

McEnany fielded questions from several journalists about the president’s record on condemning white supremacy, but largely parried them away by dismissing the inquiries as “partisan.” It marked the second consecutive day where the White House has struggled to answer questions about the president’s remarks from Tuesday night.

Fox News correspondent John Roberts asked McEnany for a “definitive and declarative statement” that the president denounces white supremacy and groups that espouse it. McEnany pointed to Trump’s previous comments condemning that ideology, including remarks from Wednesday and in the aftermath of a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, in August 2019, but she would not offer a fresh condemnation from the podium. Fox Business host gives Kayleigh McEnany a brutal reality check: ‘Biden won the debate’

AlterNet logo

Following Trump’s presidential debate with former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday night, September 29, Fox Business host Stuart Varney was honest enough to admit that Biden won the debate. And he was clearly in disagreement with White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany when she tried to convince him that Trump was the winner.

McEnany, appearing on Fox Business, told Varney that Trump was “in very good spirits” following the debate and “brought the fight that I think the American people wanted to see.” But Varney responded that Trump was much too abrasive for his own good during the debate, which was moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace.

“His style, the frequent interruptions — I mean, the insults came from Biden — but the frequent interruptions and the talking over everybody, that was a lot from President Trump,” Varney argued. “And I think that’s what the audience didn’t like and will turn off.” Continue reading.

McEnany Refuses To Disclose Details Of Trump’s New ‘Health Plan’

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday refused to provide any details on the health care plan Donald Trump said one night earlier was “all ready” to go.

“I’m not going to give you a readout of what our health care plan looks like and who’s working on it,” McEnany said in response to a reporter’s question about what the plan entailed and who had worked on it. “If you want to know, come work here at the White House.”

McEnany’s refusal to answer a simple question about Trump’s health care plan is par for the course. In the past, she has turned briefings into fights with the media, while pushing lies and falsehoodsabout Trump’s various accusations and claims. Continue reading.

McEnany Won’t Say Trump Will Accept Election Result

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany refused to guarantee President Donald Trump will accept the election results, instead saying he would “see what happens,” and then “make a determination” what to do.

“The president has always said he’ll see what happens, and make a determination in the aftermath,” McEnany told a reporter Wednesday afternoon.

Claiming he “wants a free election, a fair election,” McEnany said Trump wants “confidence in the results of the election.” Trump has been doing exactly the opposite: working to ensure the election is not free or fair, and that the results will be questioned – especially if he loses. How the Trump campaign came to court QAnon, the online conspiracy movement identified by the FBI as a violent threat

Washington Post logoOutside the Las Vegas Convention Center, Kayleigh McEnany raised a microphone to a mega-fan and asked what it felt like to be acknowledged by President Trump at his February rally in Sin City.

At the time a spokeswoman for Trump’s reelection campaign, McEnany nodded as the supporter said the shout-out was most meaningful because of the words on the shirt he was wearing, which he read aloud: “Where we go one, we go all,” the motto of QAnon conspiracy theorists who believe Trump is battling a cabal of deep-state saboteurs who worship Satan and traffic children for sex.

McEnany, who has since become the White House press secretary, continued, asking the supporter, “If you could say one thing to the president, what would you say?” Continue reading.

Right-wing smear accuses a reporter of calling Kayleigh McEnany a misogynistic slur — but the video proves otherwise

AlterNet logoLike her predecessors Stephanie Grisham and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has had an adversarial relationship with the mainstream media, leading to testy exchanges. And on Tuesday, after a terse back-and-forth with Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett, some right-wing critics accused the reporter of calling McEnany a “lying bitch” during a press briefing.

But video and the White House transcript of the conservation shows that Halkett never said that.

Halkett, originally from British Columbia in Western Canada, has been covering the White House for Al Jazeera’s English-language division since the late 1990s. At the press briefing, Halkett had a tense discussion with McEnany when the two briefly addressed voting by mail. McEnany told Halkett: “There are questions about mass mail-out voting, and I know you don’t want to hear them — which is why you talk over me.” Continue reading.

Kayleigh McEnany tries to clean up Trump’s comment about police killing ‘more white people’

Washington Post logoEarlier this week, President Trump shrugged off questions about police killing black people by saying they killed more white people. This is very technically true, but it’s also wholly misleading given the fact that we have many more white people in this country. Per capita, there is no comparison. Data have shown black people are about 2.5 times as likely to die at the hands of police.

So White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany took another shot at it Thursday. It wasn’t much better.

At a White House briefing, McEnany explained Trump’s comments thusly: Continue reading.
