Some Republicans are rejecting election conspiracy theories pushed by pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood, who’s trying to unseat the South Carolina state GOP chairman.

Dozens of guests packed into a ballroom — mask-free and crammed together in spite of the pandemic — on Sunday to hear Wood, who recently moved to the state and bought $16 million in property in Beaufort County, explain why they should choose him to replace state GOP chair Drew McKissick next month, reported The Post and Courier.

“I did not come to divide you,” Wood said. “I came to unite you and and grow your party.” Continue reading.

Trump-loving attorney Lin Wood is being accused by the mother of alleged murderer Kyle Rittenhouse of using her son to make money for himself.

In an interview with Law and Crime’s “Objections” podcast, Wendy Rittenhouse accused Wood and fellow right-wing activist John Pierce of failing to competently defend her son even as they used him to raise money for their own political causes.

“They used Kyle to gain money, gain Twitter followers,” Rittenhouse told the podcast. “I felt now they didn’t care about Kyle.” Continue reading.

Lin Wood, the far-right, pro-Trump attorney who lost multiple lawsuits attempting to overturn the 2020 election, has announced he is running to be chair of the South Carolina Republican Party, the Post and Courier reported on Monday.

“My decision to run for the office was heavily influenced by my well known desire to reform local and state political parties and return power to the people,” Wood told the paper. “Here, I want to return power and control of the South Carolina Republican Party to the members of the party.”

Wood is now well-known for filing lie-filled legal challenges alleging voter fraud in the 2020 election, with zero evidence to back them up. Continue reading.

Known for his lawsuits with fellow conspiracy theorist Sidney Powell, Atlanta-based Lin Wood is among the far-right attorneys who tried to help former President Donald Trump overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election — and he even proposed, in a December 1 tweet, that Trump “declare martial law.” Law & Crime has been reporting on Wood’s legal battle with three former law partners, and the website has posted some older audio that sheds light on that case.

Law & Crime reporter Adam Klasfeld explains, “Long before becoming the face of former President Donald Trump’s post-election conspiracy theories, lawyer Lin Wood had been embroiled in an acrimonious spat with his former lawyers, who claimed to have caught his ‘erratic, hostile, abusive, and threatening’ behavior on tape. Several of those recordings became public for the first time on Tuesday with the release of Law &Crime’s new podcast, ‘Objections.'”

The three former law partners that Klasfeld is referring to are Nicole Wade, Jonathan Grunberg and Taylor Wilson, who left the firm L. Lin Wood, P.C. and started their own firm, Wade, Grunberg & Wilson, LLC. In a legal brief, the attorneys allege that Wood physically attacked Grunberg and Wilson.

Klasfeld notes, “Wood’s former law partners claimed they had him caught on tape confessing to assaulting them, threatening them in profane rants, and asserting that he may be ‘Christ coming back for a second time in the form of an imperfect man.'” Continue reading.
