Congressional Democrats blasted President Trump on Tuesday for warning that North Korea will be “met with fire and fury” by the U.S. if it continues to ratchet up tensions involving its nuclear program.

The president made the remark during a briefing on the opioid epidemic from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey where he’s on a 17-day vacation.

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” Mr. Trump said. “As I said, they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

Earlier in the day, it was revealed that a new U.S. intelligence assessment concludes that North Korea has developed the ability to build a nuclear warheadsmall enough to fit on top of a ballistic missile, including an intercontinental missile that can reach the U.S., reported CBS News’ David Martin. Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump’s retweet of a Fox News story claiming US satellites detected North Korea moving anti-ship cruise missiles to a patrol boat is raising eyebrows on Tuesday after US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley indicated that the information in the report is classified and was leaked.

“I can’t talk about anything that’s classified and if that’s in the newspaper that’s a shame,” Haley said Tuesday on “Fox and Friends” when asked about the story that cites two anonymous sources.

Pushed on whether the information was leaked, Haley said “it’s one of those things I don’t know what’s going on. I will tell you it’s incredibly dangerous when things get out into the press like that.” Continue reading “Trump retweets Fox News story containing classified info”

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) said on Saturday that the fact President Trump drew criticism from the Boy Scouts and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), appeared to be the result of a concerted effort by the president.

“Let me say, in one week Donald Trump got rebuked by the Boy Scouts, by the Pentagon, by the [IACP],” Lieu said on MSNBC. “You really gotta try to be that bad.”

Michael Surbaugh, the chief Scout executive for the Boy Scouts of America, apologized to the group’s members on Thursday, after Trump delivered a politically heated speech to its National Jamboree in West Virginia earlier in the week.

“I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,” Surbaugh said in a statement. “That was never our intent.”
