Republicans slammed Obama for golfing, signing executive orders, and going on vacation, but are mostly silent when Trump does the exact same things.

The United States passed a grim milestone over the weekend as the nation’s coronavirus death toll climbed past 125,000.

Yet, even as the number of virus cases continued to skyrocket, thanks to outbreaks in Sunbelt states like Arizona, Florida, and Texas, Donald Trump spent his weekend on the golf course.

Golfing, of course, is one of a number of things for which Republicans — including Trump himself — used to criticize former President Barack Obama when the latter inhabited the White House. Continue reading.

Morning Joe co-host ridicules Hannity’s freakout over Pelosi saying Trump belongs in prison: ‘Irony meter’ melted down ‘like Chernobyl’

Fox News host Sean Hannity freaked out over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) calling for President Donald Trump’s imprisonment — and MSNBC’s Willie Geist was astonished.

Pelosi said earlier this week that she remained uninterested in impeachment, but would prefer Trump be voted out next year and prosecuted and put in prison.

“Speaker Pelosi now apparently telling senior Democrats that she’d like to see Trump behind bars,” Hannity informed viewers.

The Rule of Law Or the Shadow of Tyranny

Those old enough to recall the presidential politics of the 1990s may still hear a certain righteous sentence ringing in their ears: “We must uphold the rule of law.”

With irrefutable simplicity, those words were uttered in numbing repetition by the Republicans who pursued Bill and Hillary Clinton for years, at a cost of millions, over “scandals” too baroque and too minor to explain.

To honor the American rule of law, they simply had to investigate Whitewater, an obscure land deal that had lost the Clintons $45,000 in the remotest Ozarks, several years before he entered the White House. To honor the rule of law, they had no choice but to impeach Clinton, a sinner the same as many of them, for lying about his trysts with Monica Lewinsky.
