The Hill logoStephanie Grisham is leaving her position as White House press secretary after less than a year on the job, according to two people familiar with the matter.

White House Press Secretary Grisham Has (Still) Held No Briefings

The Trump administration has held several press briefings with Cabinet secretaries and key officials while press secretary Stephanie Grisham has continued to avoid speaking in front of cameras.

On Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and Acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharpless had a press conference outside of the White House to announce the administration’s plan to ban flavored e-cigarettes.

On Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin had a press conference where they mostly fielded questions about Trump’s decision to fire John Bolton.

White House press secretary’s scandal-plagued career includes DUIs, cheating and a horrifying comment about a botched execution

AlterNet logoStephanie Grisham, who replaced Sarah Huckabee Sanders as President Donald Trump’s press secretary, has led a scandal-plagued career that has been dogged by accusations of plagiarism and cheating on expense reports, as well as two arrests for driving while under the influence.

The New York Times reports that Grisham’s resume is one that “contains red flags that most administrations might deem troubling,” and the paper then goes on to document Grisham’s multiple alleged ethical missteps that have so far cost her two different jobs.

For example, Grisham was an employee at the AAA auto club in Arizona for only one year before she left the job under a cloud of scandal after being accused of filing false claims for “travel and other expenses,” the Times reports.

New White House press secretary yanked Arizona reporters’ access after critical coverage

Washington Post logoOn April 5, 2016, Hank Stephenson checked his email and saw that he had a new message from Stephanie Grisham. “Attached please find the form that you requested for the cursory background check we have discussed,” Grisham, then the press secretary for the Republican majority in the Arizona House of Representatives, wrote. “Really appreciate everyone’s willingness to work with us.”

Stephenson, who at the time was a reporter for the Arizona Capitol Times, initially hadn’t thought too much about what Grisham claimed was a new security protocol. That was about to change.

“At first it was kind of like, eh, whatever,” he told The Washington Post. “And then, they explained what they would want.”
