CNN abruptly cuts interview after Trump aide refuses to offer evidence to back up their conspiracy theory

On Tuesday, CNN anchor John Berman confronted President Donald Trump’s campaign communications strategist Tim Murtaugh about the president’s baseless claim about a plane “loaded with thugs” intent on causing riots.

“Tim, what specifically is he talking about there?” asked Berman.

“I don’t have access to the same information the president has,” said Murtaugh. “But John, let me ask you a question about this. The people we saw harassing folks outside the White House in Washington Thursday night, those people knew the names of regular Americans coming out of the White House—” Continue reading.

The White House is trying to throw Republican governors under the bus by rewriting history

AlterNet logoWhite House adviser Kellyanne Conway appeared to signal a new shift in messaging on the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday by throwing governors — particularly Republican allies of the president — under the bus.

Of course, this is a common tactic in President Donald Trump’s administration. As soon as it becomes convenient, abandon any allies and blame them for any mistakes.

But in this case, the attempt is so cynical and transparent to anyone with a long-term memory that it’s hard to believe it could work at all. Conway apparently wants us to forget Trump’s attitude toward the pandemic for the last three months. She made this clear as she blamed states for opening up too quickly and triggering a resurgence of the coronavirus, even though that’s exactly what Trump urged them to do. Continue reading.

White House Trade Adviser Spins Wild China Conspiracy

Trump White House Trade advisor Peter Navarro used the long Independence Day weekend to spin a fantastical conspiracy theory that directly blames China for creating the deadly coronavirus, then sending “hundreds of thousands” of its people to the U.S. to infect and ultimately kill Americans.

“It is the Chinese Communist Party that is making us stay locked in our homes and lose our jobs,” Navarro, the author of the 2011 book, Death by China, told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi Friday afternoon.

“They spawned the virus. They hid the virus. They sent hundreds of thousands of Chinese nationals over here to seed and spread the virus before we knew,” he continued, refusing to respond to Velshi’s questions. Continue reading.

White House’s pandemic relief effort Project Airbridge is swathed in secrecy and exaggerations

Washington Post logoOn May 1, as White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, an illustration of an airplane flying to the moon appeared on the monitors beside her.

“One hundred flights for Project Airbridge have been completed to date,” McEnany said, delivering “nearly 1 billion pieces” of personal protective equipment to the front lines. The flights had traveled 720,000 miles, the display read, equal to “more than 3 trips to the moon!”

Since the debut of Project Airbridge in March, the Trump administration has promoted the initiative as part of a historic mobilization “moving heaven and earth” to source and deliver vast amounts of medical supplies from overseas to pandemic hot spots in the United States. Continue reading.

White House says US has enough tests for first phase of reopening

The Hill logoThe White House on Friday said that states have enough coronavirus tests to be able to enter the first phase of its plan for reopening the economy.
The statement comes as the administration is facing pressure to increase the testing capacity.
But officials, including administration health experts, sought to push back on the alarm and express confidence in the testing capabilities, at least for the first phase of reopening. Continue reading.

Trump spokeswoman: ‘I don’t think the president has lied’

The Hill logoNOTE:  This is another spokeswoman from the previous post, this time from his re-election campaign, stating the President hasn’t lied. This, when there’s a massive archive showing his lies.

CNN host Chris Cuomo and Kayleigh McEnany, a spokeswoman for President Trump‘s reelection campaign, got into a heated exchange late Wednesday over whether Trump lies, with McEnany repeatedly insisting that he doesn’t.

The contentious back-and-forth came as Cuomo accused the president of consistently lying and demonizing people for being different.

“He doesn’t lie. He doesn’t lie,” McEnany retorted. “The press lies.”

Donald Trump’s Tan Result Of ‘Good Genes,’ Administration Official Tells NYT

Twitter users roasted the claim, with one calling it a “big lie.”

President Donald Trump’s famous orange-tinted tan is the result of “good genes,” a senior Trump administration official told The New York Times.

The official, who spoke to the Times on the condition of anonymity, was interviewed as part of an examination published Saturday of how the president maintains his carrot-colored complexion throughout the winter.

Aside from his genetic makeup, Trump relies on a powder (translucent, not bronzer, the Times noted) to achieve the look he wants ahead of TV appearances, the unnamed official said.

The White House on Monday released an official transcript of President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner addressing the opening ceremony for the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem. In the version submitted to reporters, however, the administration neglected to include an important—and controversial—line from the top Trump aide.

“As we have seen from the protests of the last month and even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem and not part of the solution,” Kushner said during his remarks in Jerusalem. At least 52 Palestinians were killed on Monday in Gaza by Israeli security forces. Continue reading “White House Edits Transcript of Jared Kushner Calling Protestors in Gaza ‘Part of the Problem’”
