White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders embroiled in spat with West Wing cast

Like any true political junkie, Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a devoted fan of the hit TV series, The West Wing.

But it looks as if the admiration is not mutual.

Perhaps Ms Sanders was unwise to suggest a visit by two turkeys to her office – before they were pardoned by Donald Trump – was akin to an episode of the show.

We had a surprise visitor in my office today and got to live a real life version of an episode of the “West Wing”.

Comparing herself to C.J Cregg, the press secretary to fictional president Jed Bartlet, was too much for the cast to bear.

Bradley Whitford, who portrays Josh Lyman, Bartlet’s deputy chief of staff, was swift to turn to Twitter.

He told Ms Sanders bluntly that she was no C.J.

There has been little love lost between Hollywood and President Trump’s White House since the billionaire took office.

According to The Hill, this his not even the first time that the West Wing cast has had a dig at Mr Trump. Richard Schiff, who portrayed Toby Ziegler, the White House communications director, said if he had the chance he would tell the president to quit.

Aaron Sorkin, the creator of the West Wing, has made little secret of his distaste for the current incumbent of the Oval Office.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter last week, he said: “Trump is exactly what he looks like: a really dumb guy with an observable psychiatric disorder.”
