DFL Staff Embarks on Statewide Training Tour

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA – Last week, DFL staff set out on the first leg of the party’s statewide, 8 stop training tour across Greater Minnesota, which will extend through mid-August.

“The DFL’s statewide training roadshow will capitalize on the tremendous excitement we’re seeing among our voters and volunteers,” said DFL Chairman Ken Martin. “There are no more off-years anymore. Our statewide training tour will focus on equipping our grassroots activists with the skills they need to start organizing for the 2020 elections right now.”

The DFL’s training tour will feature sessions in Mankato, Marshall, St. Cloud, Duluth, Bemidji, Moorhead, Golden Valley, and Northfield. The training sessions will focus on building organizing skills such as volunteer recruitment and using one’s personal story to persuade and motivate others. This tour is an extension of the DFL’s 2019 Training Summit which, on June 8th, brought together hundreds of activists from across Minnesota for a day-long training on organizing, communications, political data, and much more.

The Minnesota DFL’s 2019 organizing program centers around expanding the party’s already-robust voter database. DFL staff are working with local organizing units and activists to strategically contact voters, engage them on the issues that matter to their community, and use that data to inform and empower campaigns in 2020.

“The DFL is a statewide party and we’re eager to continue empowering our volunteers in Greater Minnesota with the skills they need to keep Minnesota blue,” added Martin. “One of the biggest reasons the DFL has been successful in recent elections is the power of our field programs. Our training roadshow will continue that trend and help us build an army of grassroots activists who are ready to re-elect Tina Smith, take back the State Senate, send a DFL delegation to Congress, and organize President Donald Trump out of his job.”
