DFL Statement on the Passing of Kathleen Anderson

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA – Today, Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement on the passing of longtime DFL leader and activist Kathleen Anderson:

“Kathleen Anderson’s passing is a profound loss for the people of Minnesota. Today, we have lost a leader, a mentor, an activist, a dedicated public servant, and a friend to countless Minnesotans.

“Anderson dedicated her life to serving the people of Minnesota through her work in the Minnesota Legislature and as a longtime aide for Congressman Sabo. She believed deeply in the government’s power to do good in people’s lives, which is reflected in her longtime human rights advocacy. Anderson was also passionate about bringing joy to Minnesotans by supporting the arts. That legacy of passion is visible today in the federal courthouse in Minneapolis, as she lead the committee that selected the court’s art and landscaping.

“For decades, you could not attend a DFL caucus or convention in Minneapolis without running into Anderson. Her presence and engagement was a constant, as was the mentorship she provided to so many young DFL activists. Anderson touched so many lives and inspired so many people, and I know I speak for Minnesotans across our state when I say that Kathleen will be missed dearly.”
