Trump made the comment alongside the president of a nation known for its imprisonment of journalists.
President Donald Trump asked for questions from “only friendly reporters” a joint news conference Wednesday with the president of Turkey ― a country notorious for imprisoning critical journalists.
“A friendly reporter from Turkey, please,” Trump said after asking Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan if he’d like to choose the next questioner.
“Only friendly reporters we like to see,” Trump added. “There aren’t too many of them around.”
